It was in the 1930s that golf arrived in Madeira, never to leave. The Favellas Santo da Serra Golf Club's nine-hole course was inaugurated in 1937. Since then, golf in Madeira has gained solid roots - and there are several reasons for this.

Santo da Serra Golf Club is a 27-hole, 9003 metres course. It provides an unrivalled playing experience, with excellent conditions and green surroundings.

Palheiro Golf

Palheiro Golf enjoys a privileged view over the Funchal bay. With 18 holes and 6000 metres, it is an ideal course for more and less experienced golfers.

Porto Santo Golf Club

The Porto Santo Golf Club has two different areas and several facilities. With 6434 metres, the experience is enriched by the island's landscapes.

Between the two islands, you'll find three world-class courses where, thanks to the mild temperatures all year round, you can play golf in Madeira at any time of the year. On the island, you'll find Palheiro Golf and Santo da Serra Golf Club, with 18 and 27 holes, respectively.

On the island of Porto Santo, there is an 18-hole course designed by Severiano Ballesteros.

Any one of them is surrounded by surprising natural sceneries, marked by the blue of the Atlantic that stretches to the horizon. Given these seductive conditions for playing golf in Madeira, the archipelago has hosted a PGA European Tour 'Main Tour' event- the 'Madeira Island Open' - for several years.
