About the MAMMA - Museum of Modern Art of Madeira
Located in Estrada Monumental, the MAMMA - Museum of Modern Art of Madeira is a dynamic cultural space covering an area of 800 m2. Rui Sá - founder and curator of this museum - decided, in 2021 and after the encouragement of his family, to exhibit the result of more than 15 years of artistic creation, mainly in the area of painting, exhibiting around 300 works of his authorship.
The MAMMA - Museum of Modern Art of Madeira is divided into 14 thematic areas, allusive to the classical four elements: fire, water, air and earth, to which Rui Sá added a fifth element: the spirit. In this permanent exhibition, everyone is invited to discover a new vision of Art, through the avant-garde perspective of the author, who fills the space with works of great visual impact.
However, the MAMMA - Museum of Modern Art of Madeira is open to a world that transcends visual arts, regularly promoting concerts of the most diverse musical styles, providing a stage for local artists as well as national and international musicians. Being open to all types of art, the space also hosts cultural initiatives, from fashion shows to workshops.
