Areeiro Beach is a small black sandy beach, with some pebbles, situated in the municipality of Funchal and about 2 km from Câmara de Lobos. Located in the promenade that connects the two municipalities, Areeiro Beach is one of the four beaches that integrate the commonly called 'Formosa Beach', the others being Nova Beach, Os Namorados Beach and Formosa Beach.
Areeiro Beach has pedestrian access through the promenade of Formosa Beach and also through the stairs next to the Hotel Orca Praia, since this hotel unit is located right in front of the beach. This is one of the few beaches on the south coast that is mainly composed of sand and is therefore very popular with those who appreciate the comfort of sandy beaches. As it is part of Formosa Beach, it has all the necessary infrastructures and support services nearby for a day well spent in contact with the warm sea of the Archipelago.
