About the Palheiro Ferreiro Viewpoint
Within one of Madeira's most sumptuous gardens, the Palheiro Ferreiro Viewpoint makes the most of an environment of rare elegance and offers visitors an extensive view over the capital of the archipelago of Madeira.
Located in the parish of São Gonçalo, the Palheiro Ferreiro Gardens are one of the island's truly natural monuments. This estate was built in the early 19th century by the first Count of Carvalhal. Its undeniable lavishness, lent to it by the various species of exotic plants you can find there, makes this green area elegant and unique. But its view is second to none.
The Palheiro Ferreiro Viewpoint makes the most of its elevated position. Located on a hill east of Funchal, this observatory allows you to contemplate the iconic outlines of the city's bay, as well as its rugged silhouette stretching up the mountainside.
Palheiro Golf is close to the Palheiro Ferreiro Viewpoint. At 500 metres above sea level, this golf course offers a seductive view of the Atlantic. With a length of 6000 metres and 18 holes, it is perfectly integrated into the estate's large park, taking advantage of its deep valleys and hillsides.
