Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint

The geographical location of the Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint has a rare feature: from this point you can see both the north and south coasts of the island of Madeira.

Located on Península de São Lourenço, a Natural Monument, its landscape is dominated by steep coastal cliffs (very relevant from a geomorphological point of view). Furthermore, this area located in the parish of Caniçal, on the eastern tip of the island, deserves special attention for the underlying richness of its flora and fauna.

Its semi-arid climate and exposure to north winds are the reason behind the predominance of creepers and the absence of trees - a landscape that could hardly be in sharper contrast with Madeira's characteristic green forests. The area surrounding the Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint, in Madeira, is home to rare plants and diverse fauna. It is worth noting one of the largest colonies of seagulls in the region and protected sea birds, such as Cory's shearwaters and Bulwer's petrels.

In addition to this diverse natural setting, the Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint enjoys a unique perspective of the Atlantic immensity. On clear days, it is even possible to see the island of Porto Santo. Come and fill your eyes with sea and Nature in this observatory.
