Ponta da Ladeira Viewpoint
About the Ponta da Ladeira Viewpoint
On the northwest coast of Madeira, where the cliffs suddenly drop into the Atlantic and the horizon is painted with warm colours at sunset, the Ponta da Ladeira viewpoint is one of the island's best kept secrets.
Located near Porto Moniz, this viewpoint offers an impressive view of Fajã da Quebrada Nova as well as the thrilling cliffs that define the region. In the evening, this stunning viewpoint undergoes a dramatic transformation with the sky exploding in shades of orange and gold, reflecting on the ocean and on the cliffs.
Access is via a dirt track from a small car park. Although the track is short, it does require extra care especially on wet or windy days, as there are no protective barriers along the slopes. Having no infrastructure enhances the wild and unspoilt nature of this location, providing an authentic and immersive experience into Madeira's scenery, exclusively for those with full mobility and awareness.
