Curtado Viewpoint

About the Curtado Viewpoint

The Curtado viewpoint enjoys a very high position, which gives its setting a privileged amplitude. Between the mountains and the sea, this place offers one of the most impacting views on the north coast of the island of Madeira.

Located on the old Estrada Regional 103, this natural viewpoint can be found at the entrance to the parish of Santana. It is, therefore, a much appreciated stopping place for both tourists and locals who take this route, ideal to look around and contemplate the natural charms of the Madeiran coast.

From this point, it is then possible to admire the jagged coastline of the parish of Faial. This small and picturesque town, bathed by the sea, is part of a landscape marked by the exuberant presence of Nature. Furthermore, it is also possible to observe from here a geological formation of great proportions that stands out on the horizon. We are, of course, talking about Penha d'Águia, which is approximately 600 metres high.

Likewise, the Curtado viewpoint allows visitors to see part of the bay of Fajã do Mar, a small and paradisiacal pebble beach belonging to the parish of Faial, bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the north coast of Madeira.
