About the Fajã do Cabo Girão Beach
Located in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, the Fajã do Cabo Girão beach is one of the most special places on Madeira's south coast. The natural exuberance found on this narrow piece of land by the sea impresses any visitor.
Madeira's 'fajãs' are known for being very fertile. However, access to these small territories by the sea has always been a challenge, given the difficult task of overcoming the steep rocky walls that protect them. This is the case of Fajã do Cabo Girão, which for a long time was only accessible on foot (most of the time carrying goods on one's back).
To minimise this accessibility problem, a cable car was installed here to connect Rancho to the Fajã do Cabo Girão beach. Initially used as a means of transport by the farmers of the parish of Quinta Grande, today it offers all visitors a comfortable trip that lasts only a few seconds, with a unique panoramic view over the typical terraces of Madeira, as well as over part of the island's south coast.
Plus, this infrastructure offers bar and restaurant services, so you can enjoy this place with all the comfort you need.
