Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish Church
About the Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish Church
Built in the second half of the 18th century, the Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish Church is located in the parish of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, above the Convent of São Bernardino. This religious space was built in the vicinity of the old Nossa Senhora da Graça Chapel, which had to be demolished due to its poor state of repair.
The Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish Church celebrates a number of festivities throughout the year, the main ones being on 16 August in honour of its patron saint and, the following week, around the Blessed Sacrament. This is the perfect time to get to know the parish of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos and its traditions, attend mass and behold the beauty of this religious space. The inside of the church stands out for its chancel and altarpiece, both in the rococo style in a work that is most likely by master carver Estêvão Teixeira de Nóbrega.
High up in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, benefiting from the altitude at which it is located, the Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish Church offers phenomenal landscapes. From the churchyard you can see immense vegetation that includes several vineyards with grapes, the raw material for which the parish is known.
