Pico da Torre is a privileged vantage point for observing the city centre of Câmara de Lobos, as well as its famous bay, coloured by the characteristic fishing boats of this region, known as 'Xavelhas'. It is also possible to see some points of interest, such as the parish of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos and the peninsula of Cabo Girão, the highest in Europe, at an altitude of 580 m.
Due to the cross that adorns its summit, Pico da Torre is also known as Pico da Cruz.
