About the Garganta Funda Waterfall
There are many places in the archipelago of Madeira where Nature expresses itself with special exuberance. The Garganta Funda Waterfall is, without a doubt, one of those places of exceptional beauty that no one can remain indifferent to.
This natural retreat is located on the southwestern tip of the island, in the municipality of Calheta. To get there, you have to head towards the parish of Ponta do Pargo, which stands out from the rest of Madeira by its slightly rugged profile.
The walk to the Garganta Funda Waterfall viewpoint begins at Pedregal. It is an easy and short route, about 600 metres long (one way only). On arrival, visitors face a scenario with unique contours, featuring the grand waterfall, around 140 metres high.
The Garganta Funda Waterfall juts out from a jagged hillside, surrounded by a green backdrop. From here, it is also possible to contemplate the Atlantic Ocean as well as the historic Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse, which stands on top of a cliff with an altitude of 290 metres. This is, for all these reasons, a must-visit for all Nature lovers.
