A visit to the town of Vila Baleira will inevitably take you to the Infante D. Henrique Avenue Garden. A green space of reference in this city, the garden is marked by a palm-tree-lined avenue leading to the old pier. In this space you can also find dragon trees, bougainvillea and other flowers.
Frequented by locals and tourists alike, the garden displays several statues and monuments, including the statue of the navigator Christopher Columbus, the statue of Infante D. Henrique and that of the Boatman. Parallel to the beach and the pier, the Boatman's Statue deserves a closer look, as it pays homage to all those from Porto Santo who tried, by sea, to alleviate the suffering of isolation to which the island was subject to.
The Infante D. Henrique Avenue Garden is also an attraction for the younger ones. It has a small playground with synthetic floor and some amusement equipment.
This is, therefore, an ideal place for a leisurely stroll, enjoying the garden spaces. The walk can even extend to the tip of the old pier, where you can peacefully enjoy the vast blue of the Atlantic or admire the elegance of Vila Baleira's bay.
A green space par excellence of the town of Vila Baleira, the Infante D. Henrique Avenue Garden stands out for its natural surroundings, its monuments and the landscape that extends to the old pier.
