Open since 1998, this 5-star Estate/Hotel stands out for its avant-garde architectural style: the first Design Hotel inaugurated in Madeira. It was awarded the 'Architecture of the City of Funchal' prize in 1999 for its bold and innovative architecture. All the 43 rooms of this hotel have a private terrace (some on the ground floor) opening onto a luxurious botanical garden, famous for the richness and diversity of its tropical trees and plants imported from all over the world. Among the subtropical gardens of the Estate, there are currently two buildings, separated from the modern main building of the Hotel. Positioned on a lower level, in front of the Hotel, we find an elegant and luxurious mansion with 5 new suites. The second building, next to the swimming pool, is a small Villa dating from the 19th century. In the past, this part of the Estate was the family home of the current owners of the Hotel, descendants of a traditional family of merchants and former Madeira wine producers, settled here since the 18th century.
