Views and vineyards in Estreito da Calheta

Quinta das Vinhas covers an area of 30,000 m², the majority of which is occupied by an organic vineyard. Located in Estreito da Calheta, the main house, dating from the 17th century, together with an outbuilding and 15 chalets, gardens and 2 swimming pools, provide the ideal location to explore the island of Madeira.

Funchal is approximately 35 km from Quinta das Vinhas and Madeira Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
Details
Quinta das Vinhas was born out of a desire to preserve the family heritage and to provide the possibility of offering guests the experience of staying in one of Madeira's Estates. For many years, the land was leased to the Instituto do Vinho da Madeira (Madeira Wine Institute) for an experimental vineyard. Thanks to their work, there are now 70 different grape varieties, both for winemaking and eating.

In 2018, Quinta das Vinhas started to manage the vineyard and has been converting it into an organic farm following the principles of biodynamics. In 2020, in partnership with Justino's Madeira, they produced the first barrels of Quinta das Vinhas Madeira Wine, which will now age for a few years.
Quinta das Vinhas has a strong commitment to preserving the island's heritage while upholding a strong environmental policy.
In 1997, Quinta das Vinhas welcomed its first guests. In 2018, the property was completely renovated and a new facility was created: a restaurant/winebar where you can dine and taste a wide selection of table wines produced on the island, while enjoying the view over the vineyard to the sea.
