Circular in shape, Vereda do Chão dos Louros allows you to explore the surroundings of the Chão dos Louros forest park. Being 1.9 km long and taking about 45 minutes, it can be completed in various ways. So, it is possible to start the trail at various points.
Vereda do Chão dos Louros is located in a green area which is part of the European Network of Sites of Community Importance - Natura 2000 Network. As such, the lush green scenery accompanies the entire walk, which crosses the indigenous Laurissilva forest.
Here, evergreen trees that belong to the Lauraceae family predominate, such as the laurel (Laurus novocanariensis) or the Til (Ocotea foetens). During the walk along Vereda do Chão dos Louros, you will come across a natural viewpoint with a wide view over the imposing São Vicente valley.
In addition, from here you can access Caminho do Norte (PR 21), which connects to Ribeira Grande. According to tradition, Chão dos Louros is the place chosen for the gathering, on the first Sunday in September, of the pilgrims returning from the festivities of Senhor Bom Jesus, in the parish of Ponta Delgada.
