The theme 'Um caminho para todos' ('A path for everyone') offers people with motor and visual disabilities the chance to enjoy direct contact with nature.
This trail runs along the esplanade of the Levada do Caldeirão Verde, between the Queimadas and Pico das Pedras Forest Parks, in the municipality of Santana. The nearly 2-kilometre-long route takes around 45 minutes to complete.
Along the route, you can follow a patch of forest that is a transition between Madeira's natural forest (Laurissilva Forest, classified as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO since December 1999) and the exotic forest with trees introduced by Man on this island.
Don't miss a visit to the 'Casa das Tradições Madeirenses' (House of Madeiran Traditions) in the Queimadas Forest Park, which retains the original features of Santana's typical houses, featuring spectacular thatched roofs and a collection alluding to the daily life and customs of their ancestors.
