Part of one of the most exuberant natural areas on Madeira's north coast, canyoning in Ribeiro Frio is a unique and unforgettable adventure.
Given the characteristics of this place, it can be adapted to all types of canyoneers, from the most experienced to those who are just starting out in this universe.
The Ribeiro Frio canyoning trail is 1.5 km long and can be completed in about 2:30 hours.
However, it should be noted that this place, whose accesses are quite easy, presents the necessary conditions for practising this sport only in the rainy season.
Canyoning at Ribeiro Frio starts with a 50-metre rappel, which offers visitors a breathtaking view of their surroundings.
In the case of initiation activities, this point can be avoided.
This is followed by a string of small waterfalls and narrow red rock areas, where it is possible to touch both banks simultaneously.
The level difference of the trail, considered easy, is 250 metres.
Along the trail, canyoneers can enjoy a series of thrilling jumps and the crystal-clear water gliding down the green mountains, forming a picture of undeniable charm.
