Throughout 2024, the ‘Jazz in Paths’ exhibition celebrated the centenary of jazz in Portugal, reflecting its history in the region, from the 1920s to the present day. The exhibition, which has travelled to various municipalities in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, is now in Machico.
Organised and mapped out in three modules representing the unique relationship between this artistic and musical manifestation and the region, ‘Jazz in Paths’ describes jazz as a musical genre, performed in various spaces and contexts in the region, its teaching in the archipelago, making reference to the current reality, while also looking to the future.
This will therefore be the last opportunity for the public to visit and learn a little more about the history of a musical genre that is intrinsically linked to the region's culture.
